Georg Jensen Acadia Sterling Silver Dinner Spoon No 011. Measures 18.8 cm / 7 13/32 in.
Designed in 1934 by Ib Just Andersen (1884 - 1943).
Ib Just Andersen was born in Godhavn, Greenland and was given the name Just Andersen. He later added the name Ib, when this happened is not officially known.
He was apprenticed as a decorative sculptor, then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts School of Painting in 1910 and later in 1912 studied at the School of Danish Arts and Crafts under Jens Møller-Jensen, then again at the Academy of Fine Arts this time at the School of Sculpture in 1920-1921.
He married Alba Mathilde Lykke, who introduced him to Mogens Ballin, who inspired him. Just Andersen worked as a designer for Georg Jensen, A. Michelsen and P. Hertz in his early career years. Inspired by these various silversmiths, he and his wife opened the company "Just Andersen", which was a silversmithing firm.
