Description
Georg Jensen Acorn Sterling Silver Hering Serving Fork with Steel No 216. 16 cm L (6 19/64")
Designed in 1915 by Johan Rohde (1856 - 1935).
Johan Rohde was a graphic artist, painter, architect, designer and critic. In the 1880s, Rohde was an important artist in Germany and Denmark. He challenged the traditional ways of teaching at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and was a leader in the creation of the Free Exhibition, which aimed to show works by artists whose work was not accepted.
He designed objects for everyday use - furniture, silverware and carcasses for his own home.
Rohde and Georg Jensen first met when Rohde commissioned Jensen to execute one of his corpus designs. When this was successful, they decided to continue their collaboration. They worked together for many years after.
